Texas College is authorized by the United States Department of Justice Immigration and Naturalization Service to admit non-immigrant international students for full-time study. An applicant for admissions from a foreign country must submit credentials to the Admissions Office at least four months in advance of the semester in which the applicant desires to gain admittance. Credentials of international students are evaluated according to the general regulations governing admissions to Texas College. International students must comply with all rules and regulations as established by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services. The following are requirements to be met or items to be submitted by prospective international students before the Certification of Eligibility (1-20) Form is issued by Texas College:

  • Prospective students from non-English speaking countries are required to furnish evidence of their ability to speak and write the English language correctly so that they may participate successfully in the courses in which they desire to enroll. Applicants from non-English speaking countries must submit their scores from the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of 500 is required. For information concerning the test, write to:

TOEFL Services Educational Testing Service
P.O. Box 6151
Princeton, NJ 08541-6151, USA

  • A high school certificate or General Certificate of Education must be submitted.
  • A medical examination report completed by a licensed physician must be submitted.
  • A notarized letter of support/sponsorship and an advance payment of one half of the first year's expenses are required (See Schedule of Tuition & Fee). The I-20 immigration form required to obtain a visa will not be issued unless a certified check is placed on deposit in the Business Office. An official receipt will be mailed to the prospective student. THESE FUNDS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.

When the above requirements have been met, the Enrollment Management Committee will permit, without reservations, a student who has evidence of an F-1 Visa to be admitted formally to Texas College. An international student with an F-I Visa must enroll as full-time student and make satisfactory progress as determined by the institution. If the applicant has an Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-151), commonly known as the Green Card, he/she must submit a photocopy of that card to be maintained with the official documents in the Registrar's Office.
