After
winning the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) title
in only their second year of existence the Texas College
men’s soccer team cleaned up at the annual RRAC
Awards Banquet. The men’s team had 7 players finish
with All-Conference honors. The four that were named
to the first team were Emmanuel Rodriguez (So.), Hector
Vallejo (So.), Hector DeLeon (Fr.), and Gerardo Cuevas
(So.). The three second team All-Conference members
were Roberto Galvan (So.), Edgar Gracia (Fr.), and Daniel
Partida (So.). The women’s team also had one representative
on the second team All-Conference list named Francisca
Rodriguez (So.).
Along with all the accolades
bestowed upon the men’s team for All-Conference
they also had two players win some special awards. Hector
DeLeon was named the Co-Newcomer of the Year for the
conference and Emmanuel “Temo” Rodriguez
was named the RRAC’s Offensive Player of the Year.
“Temo” was the leading scorer for the conference
with 11 goals in 10 conference games. He also was the
conference’s leader in points (27) and points
per game (2.70). DeLeon was not far behind his partner
as he scored 22 total points throughout the season with
8 goals and 6 assists. TC’s future looks bright
on the pitch with these two brilliant young stars leading
the program. |
